HOW PRETTY?
Nothing beats the flowers, foliage, and views here!
TYPE OF PATH:
Dirt trail
DOG FRIENDLY?
For running: No
For playgrounding/splashing/swimming: No
PLAYSCAPE FEATURES:
While not technically a playground, the Wildflower Center has a ton to offer, including:
The best tree swing collection in Austin. Hands-down
A lookout tower with a 360 degree view of Austin
Countless paths for you and your kiddos to explore
A butterfly garden bursting with color
A children's area with dirt digging, maze running, nest climbing, water pouring, and cave exploring fun
An air-conditioned "Little House" to camp out in when the weather isn't cooperating (with a kid-sized door that's always a crowd pleaser)
Rotating art exhibits
At least 4 different ponds/streams for turtle and fish spotting
PLAYSCAPE SURFACE:
Dirt trails, paved paths, some sand, and mulch- a little bit of everything!
BATHROOMS (BECAUSE POTTY TRAINING HAPPENS):
Bathrooms near the entrance and the Family Garden area are clean and convenient. Just remember to go before you head out to the swings, because there are none out there.
PARKING:
Large parking lot, but can fill up on days when special events are happening.
EXTRAS:
The Wildflower Center charges admission, but it's well worth the money. Pack a lunch and make a whole day of it, or enjoy a snack at the cafe.
