It's Featured Member Friday er... Thursday! Each month, we feature one of our magnificent members so you can get to know our crazy crew. How do we decide who to feature? With a super fair draw out of a hat by the closest toddler in tow.
Ok, so due to some serious slacking, our Member of the Month feature has been more of a Member of Every Other Month feature. I will rectify this, I promise, especially since we have so many magnificent members to talk about!
This month we would like you to meet Ashley F., aka Ash, Ashes, Pee Wee, or Drop it Like It's Hot. Ashley has mastered the mid-run stoop and scoop of lost toys, snack cups, hats, and shoes as her 2-year-old daughter Bella keeps her busy on every run! Ashley and Bella's favorite place to run is Town Lake, where Bella likes to people-watch, and Ashley is working on training for her second half marathon this fall. She is obsessed with running shoes, and is usually sporting Saucony or Asics, saying that "the shoes make or break your run." Her fitness lifestyle started way back when she was 15, and a friend dared her to enter a fitness competition.
She grew up in a travel trailer in Oklahoma, but has lived in Austin for almost 25 years total, where she has worked as a Legal Assistant, and done Sales/Marketing in Education. She's currently working on her Real Estate license, and writing and illustrating her first book of children's short stories to be ready for publication soon!
While not over-achieving career-wise, Ashley and her husband, Rommel, love to explore the Pecan Street Festival, Hamilton Pools (seriously, if you haven't been, make it a priority), and avoiding Calliou and Peppa Pig on the TV.
If you need a serious voice impersonator, or an expert hand bells player, she's your gal. She's also quite proficient at collecting Mami Anne figures, and alerting everyone in a 3-mile radius to the presence of a cockroach via her high-pitched screams. She says they're so high only dogs can hear part of them.
You can find Ashley hanging out in South Austin at Dick Nichols park, or sneaking a frosty with french fries from Wendy's after a workout. Salty and sweet, what's not to like? You won't see her at the local grocery store anymore, as she has to avoid it ever since Bella pulled her mama's shirt down and screamed "Chiii chiiiiis!!!" while they were waiting in line there recently.
We are glad to have Ashley as part of the group, and excited to have a realtor as part of our eclectic group!
LISA W: ex Arizonian hockey player (does Arizona even have ice?), psychs herself out every time she gets close to breaking a 9 min mile, Mom to 2 curly-headed squirts + a non-bias food-loving dog, Tonks... wifey to her college love, Timothy, Lego fanatic. And can't put up any guests in her spare bedroom since it has turned into JoAnn fabrics.
IRADIS J Native Floridian, plays the flute like a champ (she is the beauty behind our National Anthem on race day), Mom to THREE kiddos under 4 years of age (and she does it with ease, people), met her hubs in a coffee shop in the Sunshine state, avid reader and has the most gentle soul of anyone you'll ever meet.
DANIELLE D Midwesterner at heart (Go Royals!), lover of all things pink and green (you should see her daughter's rooms), eats sweet peppers like they're candy, had two completely natural childbirths (hint: she has superhuman powers), breastfeeding advocate, Mizzou grad (she and Loren actually attended the exact same years, but did not know one another), loves to quilt and does not own an inside voice.
LOREN M Central IL born and raised attempting every sport possible. Mom to 2 polar opposite kiddos and wife to a man she met on an airplane, her magic Mike. Throw in a white lab with too many allergies to count and you have yourself a fine fam. Loves pickles, green olives and is a (temporary?) vegan. Took up running in order to eat french fries on a regular basis (they're vegan, right?). Mizzou grad. Skincare junkie and waxing Nazi. The Queen of random encounters. To all the TWT members: Don't hate, just Belieb ;)
